World association IHF plans with spectators at the handball world championship
World association boss Hassan Moustafa continues to assume a tournament with spectators at the Handball World Cup in Egypt. “Yes, we are currently planning to organize the World Cup with spectators – of course not at full capacity, but depending on the arena and the Covid-19 situation,” said the 76-year-old in an interview with “Sport Bild” (Wednesday) to a relevant question.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from January 13th to 31st, 2021, but has been criticized. German professionals and Bundesliga clubs had recently expressed their skepticism, but the German Handball Federation is not questioning participation in the competition.
“There is a lot of discussion, especially in Germany, after the national team tested positive cases after an international match – but the circumstances at the World Cup will be completely different. So I hope everyone will see that,” said Moustafa.
